ChairpersonDr. Myrtis Sullivan serves on the Board Certified Pediatrician and Contractual Physician Services Corporation. December of 2010, she retired as the Director for the State of Illinois-Maternal and Child Health, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. She has spent the past two decades as a Pediatrician serving as director of Pediatric Emergency Services for Cook County Hospital for ten years, and prior to that position was an Associate Professor of Community Health Sciences/Maternal and Child Health at UIC.
Dr. Sullivan is a member of the National Medical Association, where she served as both secretary and chair elect, Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and served on Bright Futures Implementation Committee and Mental Health Taskforce of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Dr. Sullivan received her B.A. in Biology from Illinois Wesleyan University. She attended the University of Illinois Abraham Lincoln College of Medicine where she received her MD, and a Masters of Public Health from University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) School of Public Health.
When Dr. Sullivan isn’t volunteering her professional expertise for the Illinois African American Coalition for Prevention, you can find her taking long walks along the Chicago lakefront, traveling to California to visit her daughters and playing Scrabble.
